Dr. Conrad Tirre received his medical degree from Saint Louis University and completed his plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Tirre then completed a highly skilled and rigorous Hand and Microsurgical Fellowship at the Oregon Health Sciences Center. Dr. Tirre is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery,as well as holding his Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Conrad Tirre performed plastic, hand, and complex microsurgery (including limb salvage/reattachment) in Denver, Colorado for more than twenty years. After visiting Hawaii Island for several years with his wife, they decided to join the community full time in 2019. Dr.Tirre was excited to join the prestigious Ali’I Health Center and offer plastic, hand, and reconstructive services to the Big Island.

Dr. Tirre is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a former Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Department of Plastic Surgery.

Mommy Makeover

The Mommy Makeover is not a specific procedure alone rather it is a combination of procedures done to correct the changes to a woman’s body following childbirth. While the bundle of joy following childbirth is worth it, the changes to a women’s body can be significant.

Breasts often lose volume and fullness following having children and especially following breast feeding. The stomach muscles stretch considerably during pregnancy and women may suffer from a bulging belly, stretch marks and loose and hanging skin.  Dr. Conrad Tirre offers the latest techniques to help women get back to their “pre-baby” body.  We perform breast augmentation with implants, tummy tuck, and breast lift surgery.

Am I a Candidate for Mommy Makeover?
A typical mommy makeover procedure involves a breast augmentation with implants to help give women back fuller, more youthful and perky breasts.  This may be combined with a tummy tuck procedure to tighten and flatten the abdomen area.  There is not one single approach to a mommy makeover procedure and Dr. Tirre will discuss with your personal expectations and goals in determining a plan which best suits your situation.

The best candidates for a mommy makeover are patients who are unhappy with their breasts or abdomen following childbirth.  Patients should be near their ideal body weight and should not be breast feeding and in good overall health.

Mommy Makeover Recovery
Mommy makeover procedures are typically an outpatient procedure which means you can go home the same day.  Depending upon the patient’s individual situation, the procedure may take from 2 hours to 5 hours and will be performed under a general anesthetic.  Dr. Tirre will see you back in the office within 2-3 days following surgery to evaluate your recovery process and make sure that things are going smoothly.

If a tummy tuck has been performed, patients will have some drains placed which will remain for a few days.  These drains will be removed in the office and are not painful at all.  The drains help to remove any fluid collection that may occur following surgery.  Depending on if the patient has had a breast augmentation or breast lift procedure; you may be in a surgical bra or a compression garment for the body area.  All of this will be determined prior to surgery by Dr. Tirre and the nursing staff will review your recovery process in great detail with you.  Most patients are able to return to work in a week or when no longer taking narcotic pain medications.  Strenuous activities are typically not resumed for a few weeks following surgery.  Patients may want to have some help for the first several days following a mommy makeover with little ones that want to be held.
